This wedding crown is inspired by Tang dynasty jewelry and symbolizes women’s historical experience within patriarchal traditions. For generations, many young women were raised primarily for marriage. They did not have the same opportunities as men to study or learn to read and write; instead, they learned to sew, cook, and clean. As a result, when women married, they often could not be independent of their husbands, leading to inequality, abuse, and a lack of freedom. I created this crown by merging historical wedding-crown details with elements of red spider lilies. I want it to stand for women’s rebirth in the modern era, honoring mothers and grandmothers whose strength carried them through hardship.
