This is a self-portrait of me with my cat. I experimented with a more abstract style instead of a strict realism. I used a strong contrast with the light when taking my picture. Then with a black canvas, I left out the darkest part of my painting blank as the black canvas can take the place of the darker colours. I experiment with strong contrast through black canvases as I find strong contrast photos/paintings very satisfying to look at and to create. The content of this painting is simple, where it’s me and my pet but I choose colors carefully so the painting remains visually appealing.
